4th of July: An astrological analysis of America’s Birth Chart

With the 4th of July just around the corner, many people are getting ready for a day of celebration in order to commemorate the Declaration of Independence signed in 1776. But did you know that some of the Founding Fathers changed the original date for the signing, in order to get friendlier astrological alignments? If you’re curious to learn more about the Birth Chart of the United States of America, stay tuned!

Benjamin Franklin and Thomas Jefferson shaped America using Astrology

According to historical documents, some of the Founding Fathers of America fought to change the original signing date favored by John Adams from the 2nd of July, to the 4th of July. Why did they want to do that? Because the Moon would have been in an unfavorable position on the 2nd of July, in the detrimental sign of Capricorn, also making some unfavorable aspects with other planets.

“Astrology is one of the most ancient sciences, held in high esteem of old, by the wise and great. Formerly no prince would make war or peace, nor any general fight a battle, in short, no important affair was undertaken without first consulting an astrologer.” Benjamin Franklin, 1751

The Birth Chart of the United States

So what does the Birth Chart Benjamin Franklin and Thomas Jefferson fought so hard for look like?

First of all, we can see that the Ascendant resides in the fiery sign of Sagittarius, illuminating the explorative side of the United States. The US is well known for its international affairs as well as its fiery nature, which is backed up by the Ascendant sign. And in a lot of cases, we can say the country has luck by its side, due to its optimistic and open approach to life.

Secondly, we can see a lot of activity in the sign of Cancer: the Sun, Jupiter, and Venus in the 7th House, and Mercury in the 8th House.

Cancer is the Sign of roots and home, which can explain the patriotic nature of Americans.

With the Sun in the 7th House, there is a big emphasis on evolution through partnerships and connections. The conjunction with Venus and Jupiter here shows that America is very good at creating these connections and alliances with its citizens, other countries, and important political figures. The Venus sign brings balance in these relationships while the Jupiter sign brings abundance.

Interestingly, the Square formed between the Sun/Jupiter/Venus conjunction and Saturn in the 10th House can signify a very stern and serious restrictive nature to these alliances and partnerships. In other words, whilst charismatic, the USA is not to be messed with.

The last planet in Cancer is Mercury, which shows an intuitive mind and the ability to trust its guts. Furthermore, this placement shows that the things we learned from our family/ancestors tend to be very easily stuck into the belief system. We can easily see this manifest in the United States, as many Americans like to stick to traditionalism and obey the

Constitution of the United States, dating from 1788.

Mercury also resides in the 8th House of research, shared values, and shared resources. This placement signifies a deep and investigative mind. And we know that the United States loves to dive deep and dig the truth out of anything. This investigative mind is also tied up to a heightened sense of intuition.

The 7th House is also the home of Mars, which shows the ability of America to be a great negotiator and debater. This can also show a lot of assertiveness and sometimes even aggression in partnerships.

Mars is also in the verbose sign of Gemini. This country is fuelled by passion when it communicates with people. There is an emphasis on learning by communicating with others.

When we look at the Moon, we can see it resides in the 3rd House of conscious thinking and community. It is important for the voice of America to feel heard.

The Moon also resides in the unconventional sign of Aquarius, which can show an interest in unusual subjects such as space and aliens! There is also an energy of altruism and the desire for people to get along with each other.

The life purpose of the United States

But what is America’s purpose on this Earth according to Astrology? To find that out we will look at the Lunar Nodes.

While America’s South Node in the 2nd House shows the ability to provide for its people and protect its values, the North Node in the 8th House shows a calling to open up to the intensity of life. America is likely to encounter intense events which will align it with the profound aspects of feelings, spirituality, and people’s psychology.
